Thin section bearings- high accuracy in a low-profile design

If you are wondering about what exactly thin section bearings are, let me tell you. They are a family of bearings. That means several cross-sections are linked together to make a single thin section bearing. Each cross-section has a certain amount of thickness and width manufactured in several types of bore diameters. Here the cross-section remains the same however bore diameter keeps on changing.

Thin section bearings are particularly made from 440C stainless steel and 52100 chrome steel. They are developed for applications where the utmost importance is given to space limitations. The difference between outside and inside diameters of the rings has been thinned out or minimized.

Following are the numerical series of thin section bearings:

SR series: The dimensional series have bore sizes that range from 3/8 to 5/8.

6700 series: These are the metric dimensional series for light loads and space applications.

6800 series: These are the metric dimensional series for light loads and space applications (the same as 6800 series).

63800 series: This is a hybrid in between 6800 and 6900 series along with the load capacities of 6800 series and width of 6900 series.

6900 series: These are the metric dimensional series for heavy loads and space applications.

Following are the advantages of thin section bearings:

-         They are found where space limitations are combined with unique design requirements and weight restrictions pose.

-         Variety of cross-sizes and sections.

-         Multi-load capabilities

-         Easily customize or modified.

-         It can be used in several bearing applications.

-         Accurate positioning

-         Space-saving

-         High fitness

-         Space-saving

-         Lightweight.

They are designed to provide maximum performance under several load conditions. A variety of design problems can be solved by thin ball bearings and cannot be solved by conventional ball bearings.
