Thin Section Beraings - The High Precision Bearings

Since you all know thin section bearings are the family of bearings designed from a limited number of thicknesses and width (cross-sections). Different cross-sections are manufactured with different bore diameters. They are usually made with a combination of 52100 chrome steel and 440C stainless steel. They can also be coated with plates of dense chrome.

Thin section bearings are particularly designed for applications where the top-most importance is given to space limitations. The difference between the inside and outside diameters of the rings has been thinned out or minimized.

Thin section bearings help in reducing the overall cost of the system by giving more priority to design efficiency rather than bearing sizes. The width and thickness change proportionately, however, the bore size increases no matter what.

Following are the numerical series of thin section bearings:

SR series: The dimensional series with bore sizes range from 3/8 to 1-5/8.

6700 series: Metric dimensional series for light loads and limited space applications.

6800 series: Metric dimensional series for light loads and limited space applications.

63800 series: Fundamentally, it’s a hybrid in between 6800 and 6900 series with width capacities of 6900 series and load capacities of 6800 series.

6900 series: Metric dimensional series for heavier and limited space applications.

High accuracy with low profile design is offered that comes in contact with the deep groove and special features. These types of bearings are used for a wide range of applications including medical imaging equipment, guidance systems, solar array panels, radar and microwave equipment, semiconductor equipment and measuring systems, and precision robotic joints.

They are made with a smooth surface finish so that internal friction and vibration can be reduced. Also, various configurations and materials are used to meet the performance needs hence the high-accuracy of bearings helps in enabling excellent-speed performance.
